There’s something magical about hiking in the fall—crisp air, vibrant foliage, and a sense of tranquility that only this season can offer. Whether you’re an experienced hiker or just looking for a leisurely walk in nature, autumn is the perfect time to explore the great outdoors.  We’ll highlight some of the best fall hiking trails here in Halton Hills, offering tips on where to go and how to make the most of your fall hiking adventure. Be sure to pick up our Town Trail maps at Town Hall located at 1 Halton Hills Drive or access the map online – there are so many trails to explore! 

Silvercreek Conservation Area  

Silvercreek Conservation Area features over 1000 acres of wilderness to discover. This park features a branch of the Credit River and a large Niagara Escarpment valley. Explore babbling brooks, trees turning into their beautiful fall colours and escarpment rocks as you travel along the trail. There are different trail options at Silvercreek for everyone depending on your hiking experience. Vehicle access for the trails is from 9th Line and Fallbrook Trail (27th Sideroad).

Limehouse Conservation Area 

Limehouse Conservation Area is part of the broader Niagara Escarpment. The park includes over 80 hectares of unique limestone landscape that makes the park truly unique. Discover the geological heart of the area known as the “Hole in the Wall” where a ladder leads to cracks in the escarpment rock. Explore the past as you walk through remnants of the lime industry, discovering huge lime kilns and the old powerhouse. Embrace the changing of the seasons at Limehouse Conservation Area. Parking and trail access at 12169 Fifth Line.

Terra Cotta Conservation Area 

Terra Cotta Conservation Area features a large variety of trails that wander through the forests changing colours and past streams and rivers. There are many different trails for you to visit and explore! Head out to Terra Cotta Conservation Area to experience the outdoor fun including birding and take a moment to take in the beautiful fall colours that sweep through the park. Terra Cotta is located at 14452 Winston Churchill Blvd., Terra Cotta.

Scotsdale Heritage Farm

Scotsdale Heritage Farm is a 531 heritage farm that is part of the Niagara Escarpment. The Bennet Heritage Trail, part of the Bruce Trail Network, runs through the Scotsdale Farm. The farm is a favourite spot for photographers and filmmakers. Take a walk along the Bennet Heritage Trail and experience the fall colours in their true beauty. Enjoy all that fall has to offer at Scotsdale Heritage Farm and hike part of the Bruce Trail. The farm is located at 13807 Trafalgar Road N.
